Our Herbal Pharmacy

When a patient visits one of our Acupuncturists, they are diagnosed using traditional Chinese medicine. This diagnosis is determined by various factors; for example the Acupuncturist will ask the patient a series of health related questions, the tongue may be examined and the pulse is felt on both sides of the wrist.

In certain cases, a patient’s ailments will best be treated by both acupuncture and an herbal supplement or formula. When this occurs, the Acupuncturist will recommend an herbal supplement to the patient. An Acupuncturist freshly creates the formulas here at the clinic.

Our herbal pharmacy contains over 200 single herbs in powder form and an herbal formula usually contains between 8-12 of these herbs.

Since the herbal formulas are created here at our clinic after the patient is seen, this allows the practitioner to customize the formula for that specific patient and their individual needs. This is a highly advantageous situation and quite often results in higher success when treating both acute and chronic conditions. This approach allows the practitioner to treat a variety of symptoms with one herbal formula. It also allows the practitioner to treat not only the symptoms (to provide immediate relief), but also the root cause of the disease as well (if the supplements are taken long-term).
